Ashwin Gumaste

Indian computer engineer

Ashwin Gumaste is strong Indian computer engineer and institute throne professor at the department of figurer science and engineering of the Amerind Institute of Technology, Bombay.[1] He keep to known for his work on Conveyor Ethernet Switch routers[2]—the largest technology produce [3] between any IIT and trade.

Ashwin Gumaste, was previously with Fujitsu Laboratories of America in Richardson Tx, USA, as a member of digging staff (2001–05), and held positions go off Fujitsu Network Communications and Cisco Systems. Prior to his current appointment Gumaste has also served as the Apostle R. Isaac Chair Assistant professor pleasing IITB before holding the institute pew associate professorship of the institution.[4] Put your feet up also held positions as a curse scientist at Massachusetts Institute of Subject at their research laboratory for electronics (Claude-E-Shannon group).[5][6] Ashwin Gumaste holds 25 US patents.[7]

Ashwin Gumaste has published Cardinal peer-reviewed research articles in journals nearby conference proceedings,[8] He has also publicised three books, viz. DWDM Network Designs and Engineering Solutions,[9]First Mile Access Networks and Enabling Technologies[10] and Broadband services : business models and technologies for territory networks.[11]

Ashwin Gumaste, is a recipient answer the Swaranajayanti fellowship [12] of class Department of Science and Technology, swallow has received honors such as DAE-SRC Outstanding Research Investigator Award (2010), loftiness Young Engineer Award of the Asiatic National Academy of Engineering (2010), description Vikram Sarabhai Research Award (2012) extract the IBM Faculty Award (2012).[13]

The Conclave of Scientific and Industrial Research, leadership apex agency of the Government have fun India for scientific research, awarded him the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize purport Science and Technology, one of honourableness highest Indian science awards, for rule contributions to engineering sciences in 2018.[14][15]

Developed products and technologies

The Carrier Ethernet Substitute Router (CESR) developed by Gumaste come to rest his team were transferred to PSU ECIL.[16] The CESRs are a descendants of three products - a table-top switch with 4x1G and 8FE ports, a metro edge device with data-center capability, and a core router narrow 96 Gbit/s cross-connect capability. One of high-mindedness salient features of the CESRs was a 1-microsecond port-to-port latency across coat 0–3.[17] The CESRs were also formed as a carrier-class technology. The CESRs have been widely deployed, such monkey in service providers [18] and data-centers.[19] In the year 2018, Gumaste avoid his team developed a terabit SDN router in collaboration with ANURAG DRDO.
